Based on real events, Kinky Boots follows Charlie Price, who has inherited his father’s failing shoe factory. He makes an unlikely friendship with Lola who is in need of some sturdy shoes and they discover that by accepting each other and changing their minds, you can change the world.

With a book full of love, laughter and acceptance written by Harvey Feinstein and catchy, beautiful music written by the award-winning Cindy Lauper, this show is a real crowd pleaser.

The choreography by Jerry Mitchell and (maintained at the highest of standards by the UK’s Associate Choreographer Darren Carnall) is effective and allows for each performer to add character and flair. The scenes in the factory do not have much space for movement but every corner is used. High kicks and splits from the Angels create a spectacle but it is getting the entire cast to dance in those heels that really seals the deal!

David Hunter was a fantastic Charlie and Soul of a Man was sensational. You could see through his physical actions, how much passion and effort he was putting into not just that song but the whole performance. He was paired exceptionally well with Simon-Anthony Rhoden as Lola, a talented and comedic performer who owned the stage with confidence and elegance. Not My Father’s Son was a highlight of the show and was particularly moving.

Verity Rushworth was an incredible Lauren, matching her acting with a stunning vocal, she absolutely nailed this performance. You cannot help but admire the talent of the Angels in this show- to do what they do in those heels will always surprise me and I bow down to their talents. The entire ensemble were so strong and committed throughout: every harmony was hit and they were so engaging in every scene and song. I was able to see this show afresh by supporting my friend, the beautifully talented Georgia Louise (Ensemble and 2nd Cover Lauren) and it inspired me to see the harmony and love throughout the entire cast, who are evidently enjoying every second on stage together!

This third-year cast is alive with energy and are doing a sterling job- I very highly recommend you pay them a visit!

This show is booking until March 2018.
